                      The Cowsills
A successful family band of the 60's from Rhode Island formed by 4 family members, Bill, Bob, Barry and John. They were managed by their father, Bud Cowsill. Dick (Bob's twin, who later went into the service and was stationed in  Vietnam) and Paul were Road Managers.  In time, younger    sister Susan,  mom Barbara and Paul were added. They disbanded in the early 70's and pursued their own various interests.   Four of the original seven, Bob, Paul, John and     Susan, reformed in the 90's and  in 1998 have released a CD titled "Global".   Billy has been living in Canada and has achieved a measure of success in music, recording, producing  and songwriting. The Blue Shadows

Billy toured Canada for a few years in the '80s with the band Blue Northern, putting out one album. He then led his own  act, The Billy Cowsill Band, which was himself and Elmar Spanier playing traditional country songs and expanded to a four-piece with the addition of Jay Johnson and Jeffery Hatcher. Bassist Spanier left the band and was replaced by Barry Muir.

The Blue Shadows landed a deal with Sony Music and released 'On The Floor Of Heaven' in 1993 to great reviews. The second album 'Lucky To Me' also received the same accolades as The Blue Shadows found themselves leading an almost underground traditional C & W movement.

The band broke up in the winter of 1996. Billy lives in Calgary and is had been  studying  to pursue a teaching degree.
