Here’s What You  Get

It can be very difficult to get a book of your poetry published by a traditional publisher.  It may take years.  If you aren’t sure you want to wait, or aren’t sure if you even want to go that route, a chapbook is a wonderful alternative.  A chapbook is a small, reasonably priced booklet of your poems. 

Choose the work you want to include in the book. Chapbooks aren't generally very long, so don't choose too much work.

1.  Chapbooks are a great way to promote yourself.

 2.  Your chapbooks can be given as gifts any time of year.
      Chapbooks provide an affordable option for readers to own
      your work when they might not be able to afford a $24.95 book.

 3.  A chapbook is a great way to release work on a particular
      theme or style.

 4.  Submit  it as samples of your work to poetry magazines and
      journals.

 5.  Submit it to a chapbook contest.

 6.  Submit  it to  publishers in the hopes they will either publish 
      some of your work in an anthology or publish an entire book
      of your poetry.

 7.  Chapbooks are easier to keep in print than publishing an 
      entire book.

 8. Chapbooks can influence future publishing potential,
     invitations to give readings, and invitations to present.

 9. Chapbook publications add to the dynamics of your life as a
     poet and they pump up your literary resume.

10. Chapbook publishing might be the “what you do for love”
      element of your life as a poet.

11. Let venue directors know you have a chapbook out now and 
      are available as a featured reader.
